he was the older of the three quinn's children and he always knew the life they were living will never be perfect or anything like they'd want it to be. their parents abandoned them when he was only in his 16, and his sister in their 14 and the youngest one was counting only 5 years. the weight of the world fell on his shoulders, but he kept the burden there and carried it. he got a job as a bartender to keep his broken family apart. it was now only the three of them and that made them closer than any other family in town.
they knew anything about each other, told each other everything and did only thrust each other. they were on the bottom of the food chain, but made their way through since they always kept themselves in this listtle bubble that they created by years.
however, no matter how close they were, derek stumbled upon an information he should've never knew about. the secret behind the walls of the city they were living in. the truth about death living among living people. him and his sister were one of them. he considered suicide, listening to the words of the medium that told him everything, since he didn't deserved to be here, but he could never leave his sisters alone in this cruel world. so he did everything to protect them. he got into special training, it started with simple boxing, but it continued into army training. he could be a soldier, a good one, but he never joined the army, even though he had the training behind him.
many people were surprised that one day he just quit, it was the day he thought he was ready to protect them from the hunters, his sisters were all he ever had.
he had nothing else, since he never went out of his comfort zone, his life was beside the secret training, boring and dull. it was all in staying alive. he knew what the middle child was doing for living, but under the circumstances, he could do nothing about it. it was a good pay and to stay alive, they needed money.
he made some wrong decisions along the way, got involved with the wrong people as he was searching for easier ways to earn money, he never got fully out of it. still he gets some calls for little things, but he stays as much as he can away from it. he regrets it, but to be honest.. it was his only way at that time.
he knew hat the odds of leaving that 'world' were, equal to zero, but he did it anyway.
he always put others infront of him, especially family or at least what left of it.
